Overview

The On-the-Water Inventory Allocation (OTWIA) enhancement introduces an integrated process that enables Acumatica ERP users to allocate On-the-Water (OTW) inventory to sales order backorders based on configurable rules and real-time receipt data.

This enhancement provides visibility and automation from the moment Advanced Shipping Notices are imported through container-level receiving, allocation to backorders, and fulfillment via 2-step transfers into usable warehouse inventory.

Key Features

1. Container Receipt Import

Enables users to import, validate, and generate PO Receipts from shipment data.

Highlights

• New Container Receipt Import screens for header and line management.
• Import ASN Excel files directly into Acumatica staging tables.
• System validates data (e.g., missing PO, invalid inventory ID, non-numeric quantity).
• Users can correct validation errors before generating receipts.
• “Receive” action generates Wave Receipts for all validated items.
• Target receiving location auto generated per container (e.g., CONT000123).
• Supports CRUD operations for full editability of import data.

Improves accuracy, eliminates manual entry, and simplifies multi-vendor container receipt management.

2. Backorder Allocation of OTW Inventory

Automates allocation of received or expected inventory to sales order backorders.

Highlights

• Configurable Supply and Demand Scopes:
  • Supply Scope: OTW/Pending Receipts warehouse(s).
  • Demand Scope: Fulfillment warehouse(s).
• Allocation Service applies FIFO prioritization by default.
• Users can:
  • View allocation data in sales order lines or inventory views.
  • Manually adjust system-generated allocations (CRUD support).
  • Reprocess allocations for selected items or entire warehouses.
• “Expected Fulfillment Message” field added to sales order lines and APIs for external visibility (e.g., eCommerce updates).

Business Impact

Creates full transparency and proactive communication on backorder fulfillment timelines, improving customer satisfaction and internal planning.

3. Container Receiving for 2-Step Transfer

Extends the Endpoint Warehouse for Acumatica WMS functionality to support receiving from OTW locations.

Highlights

• New “Receive Container” option available in Endpoint Warehouse for Acumatica mobile application.
• Generate 2-Step Transfers from OTW supply warehouse to fulfillment warehouse.
• Receipts auto-direct allocated inventory to the staging location within the fulfillment warehouse.

Connects OTW visibility with physical receiving, bridging the gap between allocation planning and actual warehouse availability.

4. Endpoint Preferences

A new configuration section in Acumatica Preferences to manage allocation and receipt behavior.

Settings Include:

• Enable/disable PO Receipt and Allocation modules
• Default numbering sequences for Container and Receipt IDs
• Default On-the-Water Warehouse, Fulfillment Warehouse, and Staging Location

User Experience Enhancements

• Automate allocation of OTW inventory to sales order backorders by oldest to newest backorder.
• Support PO Receipt staging and validation via import files (ASNs).
• Allow bulk PO Receipt creation from vendor shipment spreadsheets.
• Provide a Container Receipt Import interface to manage OTW inventory.
• Enable Acumatica and external systems to expose “Expected Fulfillment Messages” for sales lines.
• Deliver a Container Receiving workflow for final receipt into usable inventory.
• Extend Acumatica WMS to support 2-Step Transfer processing for OTW inventory.
